Geography - Ms Catherine Higgins

The Geography Department intends to help all pupils to develop the knowledge and understanding of the world in which we live and to build on the broad general interest that pupils have in Geography from their own personal experiences.
We live in a world that is rapidly changing and the study of Geography should give pupils an understanding of issues and problems at local, national and international level, as well as knowledge of places and people.
Geography encourages an investigative approach to the understanding and interpretation of information and pupils collect, analyse and interpret data from a variety of sources. This helps develop a range of transferable skills that are attractive to future employers.
The department uses a variety of teaching methods to give pupils an opportunity to express themselves such as the use of the interactive whiteboard, group activities, class discussions and visits to places of geographical interest.
