YEAR 10 STUDENTS - MINI G8

Over the past months, 8 students from year 10 were selected to take part in a mini G8, called the E8. 10 schools throughout Fermanagh brought along 8 children to share their views on global issues.

Put into groups with students from across Fermanagh we were all given £10 million (not literally) to share out between 8 global issues that we felt were in dire need of funds, also each group had to present their own presentation on why their global issue needed the most money.

We attended two meetings to prepare for the big day and on the 29th of many we all headed to the Lough for the whole works of our mini G8 conference. Officials such as Arlene foster and an American diplomat attended listening to every students opinions.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day and were definitely made more aware of world issues that may effect us throughout our lives, I think the best bit was knowing that we’re not overlooked and that teenagers opinions matter just as much as the next persons. Maybe one day some of the students who took part in the E8 could be among some of the leaders in the G8 in the coming years.
